Demi Moore’s Cannes Style Highlighted by Her Dog and Must-Have Summer Shoe
It’s my favorite time of year. It’s not summer. I have a love/hate relationship with this season. I love the sun and #summervibes but hate the humidity in New York City. This “favorite”, which is a true feast of fashion, is the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. (I secretly hope I can attend in the future because hey, girls can manifest!)
Meryl Streep’s all-white outfit and metallic pumps made an impact, while Bella Hadid wore the slinkiest dress ever. Demi Moore’s black dress, which she paired with the hottest summer accessories 2024 (one of which you might not think of), is all I can remember right now.
The actress wore an all-black ensemble to the photocall of her new film, The Substance. She looked as stylish as ever. She wore an all-black strapless maxi dress that featured exaggerated hips and a rosette waist belt. The neckline was also cut out. Moore, being Moore, didn’t leave her hotel room without the hot accessory of the year, Pilaf. She’s now as famous as Moore. She completed her French Riviera outfit with black sunglasses and a black handbag, as well as the ‘It shoe’ of summer 2024, black ballet flats.

Moore’s choice of ballet flats with her black dress was unexpected, but it worked. I am copying this look immediately. Although flats and dresses make a good shoe-clothing combination, I wouldn’t say that Moore’s look is based on the “Wrong Shoe Theory.” Due to the fact that this is the Cannes Film Festival I am used to more elevated styles like heels. Flats, however, are perfect for red carpet events. If your dress is long, you won’t be noticed wearing them.
Moore’s pair peaked out from beneath her hemline. The black style had a pointed toe that elevated the low-toed shoe and a ruched appearance that added texture. I was immediately on the hunt for other styles with a scrunched look. I came across a few, including this pair of Vince slingbacks that are also very stylish, or this option by Sam Edelman, which is one of the most adorable Mary Jane ballerinas I’ve ever seen.
