The fashion industry loves nostalgia, and ’90s fashion is never out of style. The popular items of that era, from straight-leg denim to slip dresses, never seem to go out of fashion. While I was looking through Getty images from the ’90s for inspiration, I noticed that five sandal styles always appeared. The sleek sandals were a common theme in all the images, from pap photos of Jennifer Aniston on set for Calvin Klein to Kate Moss’s snooping around the ’90s.
It seemed the right time to share some of my images so that you could see the sandals and buy them for yourself. Naomi Campbell and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy were both style icons in the 1990s. Their footwear is also trendy again. The sandals pictured include strappy heels with delicate straps, flip-flops that are easy to wear, and thick cushioned slips. Take inspiration from the 90s by shopping the sandals at our favorite retailers.
Flip-Flops

The comfortable silhouette is still the top choice for summer, even though the platform flip-flops shown are not as popular. No, I am not talking about those foam flip-flops that we toss into our beach bags or pool bags. There are many brands that have leather and sleek versions, so you won’t need to sacrifice comfort for style.
Strappy Heels

You can recreate the sleek, red carpet style of the 1990s by wearing strappy heels (with thin and minimal straps).

The thong sandals that I have found are so easy to wear, I’m sorry if you had flashbacks.
Block-Heel Sandals

As you can see from Carolyne Bessette Kennedy’s look, block heels are actually quite stylish, especially when worn with jeans.
Chunky Slides

Comfort was a priority in the ’90s. Kate Moss wears cushioned slides on the Calvin Klein set. These will be the sandals I wear most often this summer.
