Lady Gaga’s Retro Bob: Is the Cool-Girl Chop Making a Comeback?

Lady Gaga is one of the few people we can count on to always change their style. In her early years, Lady Gaga was all about pushing the boundaries of fashion. She wore a meat dress and leotards instead of pants, and even attended the VMAs in male drag. Her everyday style has evolved into something more glamorous and classic, with a touch of edge. Recently, she has worn a dusty pink manicure, and cloud-like nails, and went makeup-free at the Oscars.

She’s changed her look yet again. Now she wears a retro-bob that screams, “Jazz in a dimly-lit bar.”

Gaga shared an Instagram carousel of her performance at her Jazz and Piano residency, in Las Vegas. She was wearing a “malt-shop” bob which she had flipped and styled to perfection. The look was completed with glamorous makeup as well as a performance outfit.

The bob featured Gaga’s icy blonde locks in a neat side part. Her hair ended just above her shoulders but looked shorter because the curls at the collarbone end of the hair made it appear shorter. The hair looked flawless, with no strands out of place. It had a retro feel.

Gaga’s bob hairstyle is similar to the popular hairstyles we have seen on Zendaya and Ice Spice. It also coincides with “Bob Renaissance”, which has been dominating in this year. Short, sleek hairstyles are the new cool girl chop. Gaga, however, didn’t require a curt to make us know that she was cool.

She paired a retro hairstyle with flawless makeup. The base of the look was a matte finish (could it be Haus Labs Triclone Foundation?) She wore a dramatic smokey eye with white eyeliner at the lower lashline and black eyeliner along her upper waterline. The shimmery white color in her inner corners contrasted with the black shade on her outer corners. The glam was completed with bright red lips and shiny gloss.

She finished the look with a little black dress that had dazzling accents. The dress had short, dramatic sleeves that were connected to a high neckline with silver jewels. Her dress was bejeweled from the waistline to her side. The final touch was a pair of classic black pointed heels.
