10 Ageless Hairstyles for a Youthful Vibe

It is difficult to find the most flattering and perfect haircut for any age. Styles that make you feel confident, enhance your features and make you look good are the best. Natascha says that as we age we want our hair and skin to glow. When I work with clients who want to look younger, I ask what they dislike. “I focus on the face shape of my clients and areas that make them appear older.” It’s not a good idea to return to the style you had when feeling your youngest. Hemple and Brian Zinno suggest that you try the styles Hemple recommends

Hemple suggests a volume-based shortcut, such as Halle Berry’s long hairstyle. Her pro tip? Keep your strands soft and tousled, not spikey.

Try a stacked cut that’s shorter at the back, and longer up front. Cameron Diaz has a great example of this. Hemple claims that this asymmetrical cut can complement any face shape. You can also wear it straight or curly.

“A pixie with a little bit of length around the face and a lived-in look is flattering for short hair.” Zinno says that it is a particularly youthful hairstyle because there’s no fuss involved. It’s low maintenance and works for many different face shapes. You don’t need to worry about styling your hair every day. We think Kris Jenner’s picture is the best option for anyone looking to bring a celebrity photo to a salon.

If you are most comfortable with bob length hair, opt for a style that is chin-grazing and incorporates layers. It’s youthful, because it’s a short bob but the layers keep it flowing and soft without the usual angular bob lines. The layers at the crown and around the perimeter add movement and lift. Zinno says Helen Mirren’s tousled, soft bob is a great example.

Zinno says that Jennifer Aniston’s hair was cut this way. It looks youthful because the ends have been shattered. This keeps it from appearing blunt and heavy at the perimeter.

He recommends longer angles below the jawline and around the face to maintain a flowing, soft look.

Eva Longoria also wore soft, shattered angle styles in the past. She wore them seamlessly between sleek, straight styles, and loose, effortless waves. Hemple believes that long layers give off an appearance of youth. She says that side or off-center parts that “fall in place naturally” can give you a youthful appearance.

Zinno says that a timeless hairstyle is cascading layered hair flowing from a longer length at the front — such as a side bang or a fringe — to a shorter one in the back. This creates movement and opens the face. This cut is suggested with soft waves, just like Julia Roberts.

How long is too much? Zinno recommends keeping your length in the area of the breastbone. Hemple says that waves, or bouncy styles, like Christie Brinkley’s, “open up all facial features and compliment a bright, open look, which makes you appear rested.”

Zinno advises that a youthful updo should always be casual, undone, and not too polished. Keri Russell looks stunning with this low coif.

Jennifer Lopez’s high snatched-ponytail lifts and tightens the face. Curl the ends of the ponytail to create a style that looks effortless and soft.
