Wool blend is the term used to refer to a mixture of wool blend fabrics with other natural fibers. The blend contains a minimum of 20% of wool and another material, which is usually rayon. This is because rayon is quite versatile and can be dyed, cut and processed to resemble the appearance and simulate other characteristics of wool. Wool is usually blended with other types of fabric in order to reduce the “itch” factor of the material. Plus, the addition of other types of fabric also helps to add softness to wool.
A wool blend fabric is able to maintain the wear and stress resistance of wool. But it is more elastic than wool so it will not easily lose its shape. In addition to that, the wool blend is resistant to insect and mildew damage. This type of fabric is usually used in the manufacture of different types of winter clothing.
