Plain, also known as taffeta weave, linen weave or tabby weave, is the most basic textile weave. In this type of weave, the weft and warp are in alignment with one another, resulting in a crisscross pattern. There are two kinds of plain weave. The first one is the balanced plain weave and it is created using warp and weft with the same size and weight. The second type is the basketweave which is created by weaving a bundle of two or more threads as one. The types of fabrics that have plain weave include organza, chiffon and taffeta. This kind of weave is commonly used in creating blankets.
