Jacquard

Jacquard is a fabric category that is determined by how it is weaved. The Jacquard weaving Its name was derived from its inventor, Joseph Marie Jacquard. The term, Jacquard, is not just specific to a particular type of loom. This term refers to any type of weaving that is created through automated patterning process. This kind of weaving is used in the creation of patterned knitwear like jerseys.

Some of the fabrics that are used in creating the Jacquard weave include spandex, viscose, silk, polyester, cotton, acrylic and rayon. Before, each Jacquard weaved design is created using punch card-controlled mechanical looms. Today, the process is made faster and easier as it is now created using a computer.
