8 Shoe Styles to Complement Your Leggings This Spring (Not Sneakers)

You can bet that every woman has a pair plain black leggings in her closet. Slim-fitting pants have been a wardrobe staple ever since the advent of athleisure. Spandex was popular in the 1980s, but it has been out of fashion for a while. Leggings were once a fashionable statement, but many of us have relegated them to our favorite fitness classes.

However, I think that stretchy bottoms, when paired with the right accessories and shoes, can look quite stylish. Pieter Mulier’s Spring/Summer 2020 Alaia Collection, which featured faux leather coated stirrup pants and pointed leather pumps. Miley Cyrus recreated the look during a recent intimate concert of her Grammy award-winning song, “Flowers”. Cyrus proves that leggings are more than just yoga pants, when they’re paired with high-heeled shoes.

The pointed pumps can be worn to create the illusion that you are going somewhere other than pilates. My favorite way to wear mine is with a cinched waist blazer and long white socks. I will also pair it with black loafers. Take note of how your favorite celebrities, models, and editors have interpreted the trend.

Here are eight of the best shoes for leggings this season.

Kitten Heels

I will always use kitten heels to make an outfit look more elegant than it is. These kitten heels are easy to wear and comfortable. They can be worn from daytime to evening. A modest heel is a must-have to create an off-duty, effortless look. Stirrup-style pants are a great match for this style.

Loafers

Every woman should have a pair of classic black loafers in her closet. Leggings tucked in boldly colored leggings will give you a smart, casual springtime look. They are more sophisticated than sneakers and less serious than heels. Try pairing your leggings with loafers and a dress to create more visual interest.

Ballet Flats

The viral coquette look is the spring trend everyone seems to be trying. Ballet flats are a staple in many of their outfits. Why not pair your leggings and ballet flats with ribbon-like straps to give your outfit a dance-inspired look?

Patent Slingbacks

Want to nail this trend? Pair capri leggings and your favorite pointed toe patent slingbacks. This combination will highlight your ankles and give off an impression of a woman on the go. Pair the look with a jacket that is oversized to play with proportions.

White Pumps

One of the best ways to create a chic leggings outfit is to wear a monochromatic look with pointed white pumps. This white contrast will compliment full-length leggings or zipper leggings of any color and satisfy your inner minimalist, while adding some edge.

Flatform Sandals

Flatforms are a great alternative to your usual sandals. This hybrid is a cross between flats, platforms and still has a cool factor. There’s nothing more appropriate for your leggings.

Metallic Kitten Heels

Khaite brands like Prada and Gucci lead the way in terms of fashionistas looking to dabble with metallic embellishments. Silver kitten heels are a great way to shine up your wardrobe.

Add a pair to your leggings and shoes for a sporty or playful touch.
