It can be challenging to get dressed each day, even if it is fun. Even if fashion is your passion, it can be difficult to coordinate the perfect top, pants, and shoes with accessories. We love sundresses because they simplify getting ready. Once you choose the dress, you only have to select a pair of shoes. Unsure which shoes to pick? We asked a stylist to give us her opinion on which shoes would look best with a summer dress. She also provided product recommendations.
Sneakers

Although dresses are often associated with formal events, you don’t have to wear heels or a more “put-together” shoe style. Sneakers pair well with sundresses and create a relaxed look that is perfect for summer.
Audree K. Lopez, fashion stylist and author, says that she loves to pair a sneaker or a sundress with an easy-to-wear outfit for summer. She notes that this is a great combination for errands in the city as well as on vacation. Her favorite duo? I love to wear flowy, comfortable dresses with chunky dad shoes, sambas, or classic white sneakers.
Strappy Sandals

Sandals are the obvious choice for summer dresses, and we like a style with lots of straps. Strappy sandals are available in both flat and heeled styles. They add a whimsical element to any dress style, whether it’s a mini, midi, or maxi. Lopez explains that a strappy sandal can be worn with any sundress, whether it’s for a casual day or date night. Her favorite styles? Gladiators and kitten heels are among her favorites.
Ballet Flats

Do you want a stylish, functional shoe to match your favorite summer dresses? Ballet flats are the answer. Ballet flats are the footwear of the season, according to Lopez. They’re trendy and transitional and go with everything from pants, skirts, dresses, etc. They’re comfortable, and lightweight and add a touch of balletcore to any outfit.
Clogs

Clogs are a favorite for the latest coastal grandmother style and grand millennial trends. They also pair well with dresses in all lengths. Lopez says that clogs are an unexpected shoe for the season. I love chunky heels and the way the shape adds color and pattern to an outfit. It makes it more interesting.
Platform Slides

Who doesn’t love a little lift? Lopez says that platform sandals will be popular this spring and summer. There’s a platform shoe to suit every sundress style, from mini flatform sliders to chunky flip-flops and lifted strappy shoes. You just have to decide whether you’re going for a casual look or something a little more dressy.
Loafers

Consider wearing loafers to create an elegant sundress outfit that is equally at home in the office or at brunch. The loafer is “the ballet flat’s older, cooler sister,” Lopez says. What is her favorite way to pair this shoe style with sundresses and dresses? She suggests pairing a chunkier shoe with a chiffon dress or a knitted piece that is vacation-inspired to make the look more work-friendly.
Cowboy Boots

Cowboy Boot is our favorite shoe to pair with mini sundresses. Cowboy boots are a great option for spring and summer if you’re looking for a comfortable shoe that is more stylish than a regular sneakers. They’re stylish, great for concerts, and perfect for festivals.
