The coquette aesthetic will not go away. The phrase ” Coquette aesthetic ” has been viewed over 100 million times on TikTok, and is attracting social media users as well as celebrities. Beyonce wore a black satin bowtie with a cowgirl twist for the 2024 Grammys, while Selena Gomez wore a romantic midi-dress decorated with bows.

The coquette aesthetic, like Regency core or cottagecore, is about dressing romantically and whimsically. This hyperfeminine look is characterized by dreamy silhouettes and pastel colors. You can still add your own touch to this look by adding one or two pieces inspired by coquettes into your outfit for a playful, timeless look.

Consider giving the coquette style a try? We’ve selected some of our favorite red carpet-looks to inspire you.

Pink is probably the first color you think of when thinking about the coquette aesthetic. Wearing any garment in this ultra-feminine shade is an easy way to experiment with the trend. If pink is not your color, then any pastel shade will also look great.

Bows

Bows are a must for any coquette ensemble. And there should be a lot. Even small bows can give an outfit a coquette touch. We prefer garments with a large bow on the front. Consider tying a hair ribbon to the outfit.

Browse the Barbie red carpet premieres if you are having difficulty defining the coquette look. There are many pink outfits that you can take inspiration from. However, this black and white dress worn by Shay Mitchell in Los Angeles is what we find most appealing. The off-the-shoulder neckline, corset bodice, and bow embellishment effortlessly channel the coquette look for a bold yet vintage look.

Opt for a frilly dress to embrace the romanticism of the coquette aesthetic. This dress is elegant with its ruffles, lace panels and midi-length. The back cutout and midi-length give it a sultry feel. Add matching kitten heels to the look and a bow clutch for a more feminine touch.

Lace

Lace is the key for a feminine, flirty look. This fabric is elegant in all its forms, whether you choose a lace tank top or a maxi dress with lace trim. Combine your lace item with a cardigan with ruffles to amp up the romantic vibes. Or, give it a sports twist with chunky shoes.

Florals

Zendaya looked like a coquette in this blush pink Valentino gown during the 2023 SAG Awards. The rosettes on the bodice give the dress dimension and contrast beautifully with the fitted bodice. For a casual occasion, choose a dress with floral embroidery or a tie-front top in floral print.

A Corset

You can be sure that it will fit the coquette aesthetic if you would have worn it during the Regency period. The corset can give your outfit an old-fashioned feel and look glamorous, even if you are wearing jeans for a more casual look. Choose a corset with a floral print or wear it over a white shirt.

A Satin Maxi Skirt

A satin maxi is a must-have for your wardrobe. It can be dressed up and down. Combine it with a pointelle knit cardigan to go out for brunch or with a lace-trimmed camisole on your next date. If you don’t mind wearing low-rise jeans with your maxi skirt, add a touch of sultry to this look by pairing it with a corset-topped low-waisted skirt.

Pearl Jewelry

What is the easiest way to achieve a coquette aesthetic? Throw on some pearl jewelry. The Vivienne-Westwood pearl choker seen on Xochitl Gomez is a mix of grunge and femininity. Wear pearl drop earrings, or layer necklaces to give the accessory a more sophisticated look.

An Empire Waistline

The Oscar de La Renta dress has an empire waistline that gives off a total Bridgerton vibe, making it the perfect coquette outfit. The empire waistline can be worn in any gown and will look great at formal events. For a casual look, choose a babydoll or empire waist dress in a short length.

Ballet Flats

Ballet flats don’t only make up balletcore, they also add the finishing touch to any coquette outfit. This footwear, whether you choose a pair of mesh flats with studs or simple black Mary Janes, is an essential part of any coquette ensemble. If you want to add height, choose a pair of ballet shoes with a block heel.

A Peplum Dress

The Y2K fashion trendthe peplum, is better than ever. The coquette aesthetic requires a more delicate peplum. While most peplums are structured, many have a ruffled or pleated shape. The elegant and whimsical appearance of a peplum dress in sheer fabrics with ruffles or pleats is achieved by a peplum made from sheer materials. Accessorize the ensemble with a hairbow and delicate jewelry.

Playful Prints

Pink with polka dots and rosettes are both playful and bold. If polka dot patterns are not your style, floral and gingham prints can also be used to achieve a coquette look.
